Head of Talent

Job description

Head of Talent (M/F)

Company description

Creandum is one of the leading European venture funds, with offices in Stockholm, Berlin, and San Francisco. Striving to be an early stage arm on a long term partnership, the Creandum funds have been early investors with some of the world’s leading technology companies including the listing of Spotify, the exit of iZettle to PayPal, Small Giant Games getting acquired by Zynga for $700 million, and the IPO of Elastic, which now has a market cap of $8+ billion. This contributed to Creandum II being the best performing venture fund in Europe ever based on multiple on cash. The firm is currently investing out of its fifth fund, and some other existing portfolio highlights include Klarna, Bolt, TradeRepublic, Taxfix, and Kahoot.

The Creandum funds invest at seed and Series A, mostly in the role of lead investor. The ambition is to be the most value-added and active partner in the cap table for its companies, where Creandum’s operating style is defined as humble service-providers.

As an integral part of the Creandum platform, this role will help build out a key pillar of the firm’s portfolio services. Creandum is looking for someone entrepreneurial who excels in a start-up culture that values collaboration, flat hierarchies, and open communication.

Your role within the firm

Our mission is to back European founders not only with capital but also with all the support they need to scale their company. The past has shown that it always comes down to the best team as the decisive factor who wins in a market, expands to the next stage, or is able to turn the tables in a crisis. Therefore we’re setting up a strategic position to manage the needs of our portfolio companies from short-term support to building up initial recruiting processes to managing executive search firms and long-term organizational planning. This role is our commitment to our portfolio founders, giving them advice on the topics that are most crucial for their business success when it comes to talent.

You will...

  • Design, build and manage the talent function for one of the leading VC firms in Europe
  • Enable portfolio founders and their talent team to define, design, and implement first-class recruiting and talent management processes
  • Consult portfolio founders on long-term organizational design and respond to their queries on strategic talent decisions
  • Orchestrate and support portfolio companies with key role searches by curating pre-vetted search firms and facilitating relations between them
  • Provide workshops on recruiting, compensation, and talent management
  • Be a knowledge leader in the field of hiring and talent management, and build a compensation benchmarking database
  • Design and develop an appropriate candidate sourcing network

What we are looking for

  • Personality: The ideal person for this job is proactive, outgoing, and self-motivated. You easily build new relationships through a curious mind, by being humble and contributing to the conversation with ease.
  • Talent perspective: You impress with your broad understanding of team compositions and ideally have a good understanding of different organizational designs and needs. You can zoom into details with confidence while not losing sight of the bigger picture when it comes to recruiting and developing a stellar organization.
  • Entrepreneurial addiction: You are fascinated by the future and have a strong interest in technology trends and the people enabling them. You develop enthusiasm about our portfolio entrepreneurs who challenge the status quo, and it is your desire to ease their journey to success.
  • Communication: Given the dynamic nature of our operations, we are looking for somebody who keeps cool under pressure and maintains confidence when interacting with stakeholders at all levels. You are a great listener and can precisely distill the most valuable information, and you build trust with those you interact with.
  • Mindset: You will be part of a fast-paced environment, and you have no issues working asynchronously, independently, and with ownership and accountability of your own tasks. You think of yourself as the entrepreneur of Creandum’s talent function, and it’s yours to design, create, and excel with.

Requirements

Your qualifications

  • You have +5 years of relevant experience from the technology and/or startup industry, ideally within the European ecosystem.
  • You have +3 years of full-cycle hiring experience either at a search firm or talent management in a fast-paced early-stage start-up environment.
  • Relevant education from top academic institutions.

You should be able to work from London or may choose to work from one of Creandum's offices in Stockholm or Berlin.

We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.
